Research

Type a natural-language query and the AI searches multiple library databases at once. Every result is a real, verified source — and digitized works are searched down to their full text, with illustrations you can browse inline.

NDL Digital Collections are searched by full text (OCR) — jump straight to the page where a word appears inside a book

Workspaces

Write in Writing mode, plan structure in Outline mode, rearrange scenes in Corkboard mode, and check the finished page in Output mode. Four workspaces for different stages of your manuscript.

Alternatives

Select a passage you want to rewrite and choose "Make alternative" — the candidate is parked in a lane beside your text. The original is never destroyed, so you can keep both and decide later.

Promoting a candidate pushes the current text back into the lane — nothing is lost
Lanes break into the flow beside the passage, so you compare it in context
Works in both horizontal and vertical writing
Commit to the current text to discard the alternatives, or fold the lane away

Focus Mode

A fullscreen writing mode that hides every UI element. Typewriter mode keeps the cursor fixed at the center of the screen.

Output (Typesetting)

Compose the page on three independent axes — trim size, writing direction, and style — check it in a two-page spread preview, then export. What you wrote goes out as a book or into a web editor.

Trim size — B6, A5, A4, 6×9″ (KDP), 5.5×8.5″ (KDP). Adjust orientation and gutter, then save it as your own paper setting
Style — Narrative, Essay, Argument, Poetry, or As written. Typefaces are chosen by meaning (serif / sans) and resolved by the UI language
SMF (standard manuscript format) for English submissions, with title and byline fields
Bound — crop marks, gutter, running heads, colophon, and blank-page padding for print submission
Pre-print check — gutter width, image resolution, characters missing from the output font, leftover placeholder text
Export to PDF, Word, EPUB, plain text, and Markdown

Japanese trim sizes (Bunko, Shinsho, Shiroku) and the manuscript grid are hidden by default in the English interface. Turn them back on from the paper and style manager windows. What each format preserves is listed in the compatibility table.

Import & Export

Import Scrivener (.scriv) projects with their folder structure intact. Word (.docx) imports preserve ruby, footnotes, comments, images, and headings. Don't let your tools stop you from switching.

Proof of Authorship

Core records what you type and what you paste as you write, then exports a signed "authorship certificate" bundling a text hash, the provenance, and your typing rhythm. Instead of guessing whether text was AI-generated, the tool you wrote with carries the provenance as evidence.
